I was supposed to write about perfectionism this week.

Instead, I’m writing about something I’m still in the middle of.

Over the past few weeks, I started realizing that I was slipping into a depressive episode.

The strange part?

I was still functioning.

I was studying. Taking exams. Performing well. Laughing. Reading. Showing up.

From the outside, there wasn’t necessarily anything that said something is wrong.

But I knew I didn’t feel like myself.

So this week’s post is a little more vulnerable than usual.

It’s about high-functioning depression, isolation, perfectionism, succeeding when you don’t feel successful, and what happens when you realize you’ve been slowly pulling away from your own life.

I don’t have a recovery story for you yet.

I have a right-now story.

And I’m sharing it because maybe someone else needs to know they aren’t the only one living in the middle of theirs.

first day of T5!!

somehow we’re already here.

new term, new lectures, same girl convincing herself that this will be the term she stays completely caught up.

after taking a little time to rest and reset after T4, it feels really good to be starting again. a little nervous, a lot excited, and very grateful to be one step closer.
