Познакомьтесь с Кензи

Hi, I am Kenzie.

Medical student. Future forensic pathologist. Lifelong question-asker. Firm believer that pink has never made anyone less capable of doing serious things.

I am so glad you found your way to my little corner of the internet.

I am currently a second-year medical student working toward a career in forensic pathology, a field that combines so many things I have always loved: medicine, investigation, science, and the constant need to ask one more why.

Before medical school, I earned my B.S. in Forensic Science and spent several years in a medical examiner’s office, eventually working as a forensic technician. Somewhere along the way, forensic pathology became more than something I found fascinating. It became the career I couldn’t imagine not pursuing.

I love the science behind understanding what happened, but even more than that, I love the responsibility behind it: approaching death with curiosity and objectivity without ever forgetting the life that came before it.

That is the doctor I am working toward becoming.

But I am also just a girl who loves pink, bows, getting dressed up, books that emotionally destroy me, and probably owning far too many things in various shades of blush.

And I do not think those parts of me have to exist separately.

That is why I created Forensic Fashionista.

This is a space about becoming a doctor without disappearing into the process.

We talk about the real experience of medical school: the wins, self-doubt, exams, mental health, perfectionism, growth, friendships, and all the messy parts in between.

We talk about forensic pathology: what draws me to it, what I am learning, what people misunderstand about the field, and what it means to work around some of the heaviest parts of being human while still holding onto your humanity.

And we talk about being a woman in medicine without feeling like you have to trade femininity, softness, or pieces of yourself for ambition and competence.

I do not have everything figured out. Honestly, that’s kind of the point.

I am writing this blog while I am becoming, while I am still learning what kind of physician and person I want to be.

Sometimes we will talk from the other side of something. Sometimes we will talk from somewhere in the middle.

Either way, I want this space to feel honest, supportive, curious, and like somewhere you can exhale for a minute.

I hope you learn something here. I hope you laugh here. I hope you feel a little less alone here. And most of all, I hope Forensic Fashionista reminds you that you can build a meaningful, ambitious life without losing yourself along the way.

You can be soft and serious. You can be ambitious and human. And yes, you can wear the freaking pink.

Welcome to Forensic Fashionista. I am really glad you are here.

Subscribe if you’d like to stick around, and never hesitate to reach out with a question, thought, or something you would love to see me talk about next.

XOXO,
Kenzie
